Thanks also for the reminder that working for peace is "the calling of faith." Perhaps one of the reasons the movement in larger society died out is because it was largely a secular movement. The movement of God generally is through a small, often marginalized group.DonRClymerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05457707159001349570noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4105362942297204346.post-79844805663235935152014-02-01T01:07:20.220-05:002014-02-01T01:07:20.220-05:00Don, there are still some of us trying to carry on...Don, there are still some of us trying to carry on the good struggle against the evil triplets of which MLK spoke. It's a different struggle now than it was 40 years ago, in a different context and necessitating different tactics, but the fundamental struggle is the same. It's been a long journey from Vietnam through Central America, Iraq, and Afghanistan, but with the grace of God, working for peace is still the calling of faith.<br />Duane Shank, DCdshankdchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05946189498666557258noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4105362942297204346.post-20533991537797424062014-01-29T21:38:38.860-05:002014-01-29T21:38:38.860-05:00Shirley, thank for your kind and thoughtful commen...Shirley, thank for your kind and thoughtful comments. Thanks for this thoughtful essay, Don. The word empire seems more and more apt for our world today. We need to carry on the voices of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Pete Seeger. Thanks for lifting your voice and singing.ShirleyHShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16395781622594618982noreply@blogger.com
